A Strong Showing at NYC Supreme Court

October 21, 2026

On October 20, around 50 residents of this neighborhood went to the NYC Supreme Court to show that our community has been significantly impacted by the stalled Riverside Viaduct construction and has a vested interest in its speedy completion. Yesterday, the judge overseeing contractor Judlau’s legal dispute with the city, which has held up construction, recognized the impact on the community and is allowing our attestations of harm to remain on the record.

This is precedent setting. By accepting the portions of CB-12’s amicus brief that describe the harm we’ve endured, the judge has created a public record of what happens to a neighborhood and its residents when the city and contractors allow critical infrastructure to languish. Now that both parties are under a spotlight, there is more pressure on them to ensure the community isn’t further burdened by delays. Other similarly neglected communities can now take this type of action, thanks to CB-12’s success with this amicus brief.

Here’s CB-12’s press release, which contains a link to the judge’s decision.
